1. How tall are the support columns?
From the top of the truck bed rail where the support columns rest, the column is 29" high. The actual crossbeam height is 26". Some super cabs are higher than 26" and the QuickRack will not work on these trucks.
2. What is the product made out of?
The six support columns are made out of a special high-strength material that has been strength tested for over 1,500 pounds giving it the strength and durability to easily carry the 500 pound capacity it was designed for. the three crossbeams are made of anodized aluminum with rounded edges to keep from scratching your cargo.
3. Can I only use two of the three rack sections?
No, the QuickRack is warranted when all three rack sections are being used for up to 500 pounds of evenly distributed weight with all loads being cross-tied from the center section.
4. Do the support columns go in the manufacturer's holes (stake holes) of the truck?
No, the QuickRack has a patented attachment system that allows you to position the three rack sections anywhere along the edge of the bed rail to allow you the flexibility to position them to meet your load requirement.
5. Do I have to use the QuickGuard plate when tightening the Locking Bolts?
The QuickGuard plate is highly recommended to protect the underside of your truck bed rail. Over tightening of the locking bolt without the QuickGuard plate may damage your bed rail.
6. How long does it take to assemble the QuickRack?
The QuickRack can be assembled in 30 to 45 minutes. Once assembled, it only take 3-5 minutes to install or remove the QuickRack from your truck.
7. What if I have the QuickRack and in a couple of years buy a different size truck?
If you buy a truck that has a narrower bed, you simply remeasure the inside width of the truck in the forward, middle and back positions and follow the assembly instructions for cutting your three crossbeams to the new shorter width. Then redrill the holes on only one end of the crossbeam and reconnect to your support columns. If you buy a new truck with a wider bed, simply call us at 888-530-PART to order three new crossbeams and follow the assembly instructions to cut to the size of your new truck reusing the rest of your existing QuickRack hardware.
8. Does the QuickRack fit all pickup trucks?
No. Any super cab that is higher than the crossbeams of the QuikRack will not work. If the cargo on the rack shifted forward, it would damage the cab of the truck. Any truck that does not have access to the underside of the bed rail, the QuikRack will not work. A very small number of pickup trucks have no access. Some bedliners, after installed, do not allow access to the underside of the bed rail.
9. What keeps someone from stealing the QuickRack off of my truck?
QuickRack is secured to the edge of your bed with six 3" x 1/2" locking bolts that can only be tightened or untightened with a 1/4" Allen wrench making it less likely that someone would have one handy to unscrew the locking bolts.
10. Can I paint the QuickRack a different color?
Yes. Simply contact your local paint store to determine the exact type of paint that you should use to paint the glass filled polymer support columns and the aluminum crossbeams.
11. If I decide that I don't want the QuickRack can I send it back?
Yes, as long as you haven't cut the crossbeams or drilled any holes in the QuickRack. Simply rebox the QuickRack with all of the parts bagged and secured to the inside of the box, including assembly instructions and return it to us. Call us at 888-530-PART for authorization and return information. Or click contact us to leave a message.
12. How do I cross-tie my cargo to my truck?
Since most pickup truck owners have tie-downs, we have kept the cost down by not including them. If you do not have tie-downs, you can purchase them at any automotive parts store. The best tie-downs to purchase for the QuickRack have at least a one inch wide material, "S" hooks on both ends and a ratchet or cam buckle used to tighten and secure the tie-down. The tie-downs should be 14" long. Once you have installed your QuickRack, take one tie-down and follow the instructions to connect the two pieces included with each tie-down. Take the end without the ratchet or cam buckle and connect the hook on that end to the manufacturer provided hook or tie-down hole in the rear of your truck bed. Take the tie-down up to the center support column, wrap it around either your cargo or the top of the center support column once or twice, making sure it is only pulled snug from the first hook. then extend the tie-down to the hook or hole in the front of the truck bed keeping the tie-down pulled snug from the top of the center support column. Now use the ratchet or cam buckle to tighten this section of the tie-down. Do not over tighten. Do the same thing with the second tie-down for the other side of the QuickRack. You have now gained the stability of the truck bed without sacrificing the ease of installing, removing or storing the QuickRack. As with any rack system make sure you tie your cargo to at least the center rack section of the QuickRack. You now have an incredibly strong and totally stable QuickRack system.
13. What keeps the QuickRack from scratching the edge of my truck?
Each of the six support column has a rubber pad that protects against scratching.
14. Can I use the QuickRack on two different vehicles?
Yes, if the truck beds are similar in width.
15. Can I use the QuickRack if I have a bed liner?
As long as you have access to the under side of the bed rail, you can use the QuikRack. The patented attachment system uses a securing method that tightens to the under side of the bed rail. Only a couple of trucks do not have access and only a small number of bed liners eliminate access.
